For an experienced gardener, caring for a squash bed is nonsense. Subject to all the rules for growing zucchini, the harvest is successful. Water the zucchini regularly. In drought after 2 - 3 days, in rainy or cloudy weather, every 6 days. Before harvesting, it is best to stop watering 2 weeks in advance, this will allow the fruits to grow stronger and gain strength, as this measure will prevent the crop from rotting. If zucchini grow in a greenhouse after watering, be sure to ventilate the room so that excess moisture does not form there. Watering zucchini when grown outdoors is only necessary with warm water. The soil for the squash bed should be soft and loose. The earth should not be tamped, otherwise the roots will have too little air. Weed the bed well and start loosening. The soil should be loosened once a week. Zucchini are great lovers of organic fertilizers. Ideally, zucchini should be fertilized every week, but not everyone has this opportunity. If this is not possible, then you should remember when you need to do two mandatory feeding. The first feeding is best done before the start of the color set. In the first feeding, I usually use superphosphates, I water each bush with a diluted fertilizer. I do the second top dressing two weeks before harvest, with the same super phosphate. If you fertilized the beds in the fall with compost or manure, then you can feed the zucchini only once with mullein infusion. Pollination of plants is also important for the harvest. Many summer residents, if there are no insects carrying pollen, shake each bush. But it is best to attract bees or bumblebees, for this I spray the zucchini bushes with honey solution.

It should be remembered that it is impossible to plant zucchini in open ground in beds where cucumbers and melons previously grew. The reason for this prohibition is the same diseases of these cultures. The most common zucchini diseases are powdery mildew, white rot and anthracnose. The most dangerous pests are wireworms and melon aphids. Anthractosis - destroys foliage, the plant gradually withers. If you notice brown uneven spots on the leaves, proceed with the action. The bushes should be treated with a solution of Bordeaux liquid. In order that this disease does not arise in your garden, preventive measures should be followed. Carefully remove any residual plant material left over from the previous season. White rot - usually affects both stems and leaves. If measures are not taken, then the plant will die within a week. If there is a white bloom on the leaves, I advise you to start processing. White rot, is very afraid of wood ash and lime, therefore, mulch the soil more often and white rot will not appear. Bacteriosis is a disease that forms gray-brown mucous spots on the leaves. The best cure for this scourge is Bordeaux liquid. The mealy race can be dealt with with mullein infusion, and then each bush can be treated with sulfur. The wireworm is the most frequent guest, in the beds of our summer residents, in order to get rid of this pest in the fall, fill the soil with lime and dig it up well.It is more difficult to deal with melon aphids. Aphids live in colonies and multiply very quickly. Aphids suck nutritious juices from zucchini. In order to scare off aphids, several times a season I process the zucchini with soapy water or an infusion of wormwood. If the aphid does not recede, I use a solution of copper sulfate.
