Foliar dressing of pepper
Content:
Peppers are crops that love light, warmth and, of course, good feeding. The capriciousness of the peppers lies precisely in this, because if you do not give them what they want, then, as a result, the yield level will noticeably decrease, which will not play into the hands of the gardener himself at all. Top dressing begins to be carried out from the moment the seedlings are grown with pepper. In central Russia or in the northern regions, at this stage, special attention should be paid to the application of fertilizers. If you regularly fertilize the peppers, water them, loosen the soil around them, weed them, then you can achieve excellent results in terms of yield even in those regions where you do not expect this at all. In the article we will talk about: foliar feeding of pepper
Foliar dressing of pepper: features
Experienced gardeners have already come to the conclusion that no crop can function normally without feeding. Peppers prefer lighter forms, such as sandy loam and loam. But these soils do not have enough minerals, so it is the task of every gardener to apply them. Today, root and foliar dressings are the most popular among gardeners, and this article is exactly what will be discussed about them. To begin with, let's take a closer look at what foliar feeding is, what are its features and advantages.
Foliar dressing of pepper is applied by spraying the ground part of the plant. That is, in fact, all trace elements and macrocomponents are absorbed through the leaves and stems. Foliar fertilizers can also be disposable, temporary or special. It all depends solely on that. In what state and at what period of development is the plant, how it looks, what it needs.
In addition, foliar feeding is best done in the following cases:
- in the event that the temperature of the soil is too high or too low, due to which the roots cannot fully consume the necessary components directly from it
- the soil has high humidity, very dense
- with increased acidity, the roots also cannot fully receive many components, especially certain forms of phosphorus and calcium, potassium and some nitrogen macroelements. Nutrition in general is disrupted if acidity is too high
- during the flowering period of the plant, as well as during its transplantation, the peppers are especially in need of additional feeding, or they simply refuse to take root in the new conditions, and therefore the gardener risks losing the entire crop.
In general, foliar dressing, although popular, is clearly underestimated by gardeners and gardeners, or they are considered exclusively as one of the preventive measures in order to reduce the vulnerability of the plant and relieve it of stress. Nevertheless, all the advantages of foliar feeding should be considered, which make this method very beneficial among all the others. Firstly, thanks to her, the stem strengthens and thickens in a timely manner, and with it the condition of the deciduous mass improves - it is actively growing. Secondly, peduncles are abundantly formed and, accordingly, the number of crops increases. Thirdly, emphasis should be placed on the fact that with foliar spraying and processing, the fruits ripen better and more actively, and they can be harvested much earlier than the appointed time. Nutrients through the green part are absorbed and assimilated much faster, the plant, if it has not been damaged, can be transplanted to any convenient place: there, thanks to foliar feeding, it adapts much faster, it will increase its immunity and stress resistance, even if there is no the most favorable climatic condition, or temperatures are not very stable. You can use weak concentrations of drugs, since they will still move through the leaves and stems much faster through the plant, but you can leave those concentrations that are usually indicated in the instructions. It all depends on the size of the site, the number of plantings on it, since for each site and culture (and for peppers in particular), individual norms and concentrations of foliar dressings are calculated.
It should be borne in mind that foliar top dressing is of maximum benefit only if the gardener still focuses on the instructions for use, and also comply with all conditions for making foliar dressing. It is best to spray the bushes either early in the morning, before sunrise, or in the evening, when the sun begins to sink below the horizon. This prevents the sun's rays from reaching the treated parts of the plant, so foliar treatment is more efficiently absorbed. In peppers, the stomata are also open on the leaves, where the elements of feeding enter, and they are also absorbed through these very stomata. It is best to carry out foliar feeding at a temperature not higher than 22 degrees, but in general, trace elements are absorbed best in cloudy, cool weather. Before carrying out the treatment, it will not be superfluous to clarify the weather forecast, since the precipitation will simply wash away all the necessary substances from the plant, and feeding will not have the effect that it could.
To carry out foliar feeding, the gardener will need water in a certain amount, a complex of fertilizers, and a sprayer. If fertilizers are intended for seedlings, then you can simply take an ordinary spray bottle. Depending on the area of the treated area, the gardener independently chooses the volume of the sprayer for himself, this already depends on his personal preferences. When the weather conditions and treatment time have been agreed, the solution is poured into the sprayer and the plants are processed according to their planting pattern. In this case, care should be taken that the solution covers the leaves evenly, but not abundantly: it should not drain directly from them, this is considered an agrotechnological error, and the plants can be very damaged from this.
Peppers are generally very quick to pick up and respond to processing. In almost a few hours, the gardener will be able to see the very first results of his treatment. It should also be mentioned that not all fertilizers and mixtures are suitable for foliar processing. To do this, it is best to choose drugs such as potassium sulfate, Superphosphate (a fairly universal fertilizer, but it dissolves very poorly in water, therefore, when preparing a solution, you need to keep this in mind, or stir the solution for a long time, or initially fill it with boiling water) , urea, some organic fertilizers. By the way, as organic matter, you can safely use tinctures based on weeds or nettles.
Thus, foliar feeding of pepper is one of the most effective methods, but, unfortunately, it has not been recognized by all gardeners and gardeners. This is due, first of all, to the fact that foliar processing requires frequent approaches, as well as the fact that this process requires a lot of time and physical strength of the gardener himself. Feeding equipment is far from the most economical, and calculating fertilizers is an extremely important process, and if you miss it, it can simply lead to huge problems.
As a rule, peppers with all external signs seem to indicate that they lack certain substances, and for this reason the gardener can easily understand when the plant really needs additional feeding and support. For example, with a lack of nitrogenous substance, the stem of the peppers bush begins to gradually thin out, the shoots are scarce, just as the foliage becomes scarce, which becomes pale. Of course, in this regard, the number of inflorescences decreases and, as a result, fruiting also becomes as small as possible, which leads to a decrease in the normal yield to its minimum. The problem can be solved if you notice in time problems with the appearance of the plant and apply fertilizers such as organic matter, urea, ammonium sulfate, ammonium nitrate or sodium nitrate.
If the plant lacks phosphorus, then the amount of the crop is greatly reduced from this. In addition, the leaves become less saturated green, they are not at all as fleshy as they can be, moreover, the plant as a whole has an extremely unhealthy appearance. The leafy part dries very quickly, the plant sheds its leaves. It is best, with a lack of phosphorus, to introduce mixtures that are based on superphosphate, potassium phosphate, and a solution based on bird droppings is also excellent, but it should be handled very carefully, otherwise burns can be provoked.
If the peppers lack iron, then a disease such as chlorosis can develop - the foliage begins to turn yellow profusely, while the veins remain green, but the overall appearance of the plant is extremely painful. To get rid of this, you can use a very light folk remedy - they stick a few nails into the soil and wait for the effect. Chlorosis also develops when there is a lack of magnesium in the plant, the leaves quickly dry out and wrap around the edges. It is best in such cases to use sulfate mixtures and fertilizing, which are generally suitable for both foliar and root application. Copper is another substance that plants need. If there is not enough of it, the growth of the plant slows down noticeably. You can get rid of the problem by adding copper sulfate, as well as superphosphate with copper, and then the plant will actively return to normal life, which is certainly very important.
Of course, these and other problems can be solved by foliar feeding. Thanks to her, all substances are absorbed into the plant much faster, and this is a definite plus. Next, we will talk a little more about the opposite method of feeding - root, which also has many of its own advantages. The choice of feeding method is solely an initiative of the gardener himself, so, as a rule, he himself should decide how to feed the peppers and what type of feeding will be more effective for the plant.
Pepper root dressing
Root dressing in general is more developed by gardeners, foliar weeks. It is best to start fertilizing even when the plant is developing in seedling form. Complex fertilizers are perfect for seedlings, since they contain all the substances necessary for a plant that accelerate growth, stimulate immunity and stress resistance to possible diseases.
Potassium or sodium humate, urea and potassium nitrate, as well as "Kemira Lux", which is used in accordance with the instructions, potassium sulfate, ammonium nitrate, superphosphate, potassium nitrate are excellent for root feeding. In general, these components can be mixed with each other in accordance with the instructions, as well as in accordance with what exactly the plants show, what they need, what substances they most lack for successful life in the future, for growth and resistance to pests and disease. Top dressing can be applied at the initial stages once every one and a half to two weeks. As we have already said, root dressing can be combined with foliar dressing, the effect of this will be equally excellent, the main thing is to observe the norms and concentrations that are indicated in the instructions for use of the drugs. As soon as the plants reach a height of 20 centimeters, as soon as full leaves are formed on them, they can be transplanted into open ground. It is best not to use fertilization for the first couple of weeks, since the plant must adapt to new conditions without additional stimulants. But, as soon as the flowering process begins, it is best to add additional fertilizing, since the quantity and quality of the future harvest depends on the flowering intensity, and here it is extremely important to take into account all the features of the variety, the ripening process, even the shape of the plant.
You can feed it at the root with slurry, and in general, organic matter is very welcome during this period. If the gardener does not have access to organic fertilizers, then with the same success you can use superphosphate or ammonium nitrate, as well as potassium sulfate. It is important to comply with the norms in the use of these substances, and only in this case the gardener will see the effect. When the time comes for the formation of ovaries as a future crop, you can do another root feeding. To do this, it is best to alternate fertilization with organic matter and fertilization with special mixtures. Potassium is perfect for the intensity of the ovaries, as well as urea, which in combination gives an excellent effect on peppers. Again, you should remember about the norms, since an overabundance of fertilizers will simply lead to negative consequences, the plant will be oversaturated, which will affect the quality of the crop, the taste of ready-made peppers, so it would seem that such seemingly trifles should be paid special attention to.
Foliar dressing of pepper: folk remedies
There are several top dressing recipes that come straight from the people. This is due to the fact that gardeners have always been in search of economical and safe components, so today there are a huge variety of folk remedies and recipes.
The first type of folk dressing is foliar top dressing of pepper with yeast. Yeast is a fairly well-known ingredient. They contain a large number of extremely useful trace elements and components, so they can actually have a very positive effect on the intensification of the growth of peppers. Fertilizers also stimulate the formation and development of the root system, which also affects the processes of picking and transplanting into other conditions. Yeast shortens the adaptation time, so you can get a full harvest some time earlier than is usually indicated on the seed packaging.
For feeding with yeast, both live and dry yeast are used. You can make a concentrated solution, as well as add granulated sugar. You can also take ready-made "herbal tea" and add yeast to it. Live yeast should be infused for more than a day, but for dry yeast it will take much less time - they have enough settling for them in about two to three hours. In the growing season, two such yeast supplements will be enough for peppers, they will be very grateful for such a remedy and care, and will give an improved yield.
Fertilizer on banana skins - prepared in water and 6-7 skins. This solution should be infused for about 3 days, and then strain and water the peppers. Due to the fact that the skins contain a large amount of potassium, this component enriches the plants, makes them strong and improves the ovaries and their quality.
If we are talking about a solution of boric acid, then it is better to use it as a foliar top dressing of pepper. To do this, boron is dissolved in water and the areas are sprayed. This method stimulates the accelerated formation of high-quality and very tasty fruits. If ash is used, then an ash solution is prepared on its basis, which is infused for about 48 hours, and after that it is used for the foliar method of processing peppers. You can also prepare an eggshell solution, which is also infused for five days.If the solution is ready, it becomes cloudy in color, and also a rather unpleasant odor emanates from it. Onion skins are also ideal for making tinctures for both root and foliar feeding. Thus, in general, folk remedies are quite popular today, since they can save a sufficient amount of financial resources and efforts. In addition, components for such fertilizers are available for every gardener, they are completely safe for the site. Still, it is worth remembering that in any top dressing, the application rates should be observed, no matter what method the gardener uses. The oversaturation of a plant with certain components can lead to disruption of its vital activity, to the fact that the plant begins to wilt, to ache, and the immunity, which should have been raised, begins to inexorably decline. Therefore, both experienced gardeners and those who are just starting their activity are advised to be very attentive to even the most elementary trifles when applying dressings, since this is extremely important.
