Cherry Alyaevskaya was obtained as a result of crossing "Polzhira" and "Late pink" in the Tatarstan Research Institute of Agriculture. The authorship belongs to a duet of scientists consisting of L.A. Sevastyanova and V.A. Naumov. Since 1994, the Alyaevskaya cherry variety has been accepted for state variety testing and is recommended for cultivation in the Central, Middle Volga and Volga-Vyatka regions, as well as in the Urals.
When choosing plants for your garden, you should first of all build on the climatic characteristics of your region, and only then consider the taste of the fruit, yield and resistance of the tree to various diseases. In this article, we will talk in more detail about the Alyaevskaya cherry variety.

Cherry Alyaevskaya: photo of the variety
Alyaevskaya cherry is a low-growing tree with a rounded, slightly flattened crown of medium density on top. Dark green leaf plates are small, in the form of a narrow oval with a pointed top.
Flowering occurs in the second or third decade of May. Small white flowers are collected in inflorescences.
Alyaevskaya cherry is a self-fertile variety, that is, it does not need pollinator companions, and you can harvest even if it is the only cherry tree on your site. Alyaevskaya cherry begins to bear fruit in the third or fourth year after planting, and fruiting continues for 16-18 years. Light red berries are rather small, their average weight is 3-4 grams 3.6 g. Juicy pulp of berries is light red, medium density. The taste is sweet-sour, with some astringency; experts characterize it as satisfactory or mediocre.
Cherry Alyaevskaya: advantages and disadvantages
Each fruit tree has its own advantages - qualities that make us inclined to buy this particular variety, and disadvantages - qualities that make us think and, perhaps, refuse to purchase this particular variety.
The strong qualities of the Alyaevskaya cherry variety include:
- Self-fertility of the variety. Even being the only cherry tree on your plot, "Alyaevskaya" cherry will yield a harvest.
- Good and stable yields.
- This variety can be propagated by rooting green cuttings.
- The compact size of the tree makes it easy to harvest.
- The tree is highly frost-resistant.
If we talk about the shortcomings of the Alyaevskaya cherry variety, then the following qualities can be distinguished:
- Small berries that do not taste great.
- Medium resistance to diseases (for example, coccomycosis) and harmful insects (in particular, cherry sawfly). When deciding to grow cherries of this variety, you will need to pay attention to the preventive treatment of the tree with appropriate preparations.
- Weak resistance of the fruit to cracking.
The Alyaevskaya cherry variety was bred as technical, that is, used for processing. This does not mean that the berries cannot be eaten fresh, they just are not as large and sweet as the fruits of some other varieties. But if you need a tree that consistently gives a good harvest, is unpretentious to care for and is frost-resistant enough, then you should opt for the Alyaevskaya cherry variety. You will need to provide the tree with minimal maintenance - timely pruning and preventive treatment before flowering, in order to prevent the appearance of pests and reduce the likelihood of developing diseases.Small, but tasty, healthy and fragrant Alyaevskaya cherries are perfect for making jam, compote and other homemade preparations; they can be dried or frozen for use in the winter months.
